Valle Extended Family Session
Ahh the dreaded extended family session. So many schedules, so many outfits and so much chaos. Naturally, the Valle family handles it with grace and the very best style. I photograph some of the subset families in here so it is double torture for the men and children to endure TWO family sessions with me in one season but don’t worry, I am super cool and fun so by the end of the session we are all chill. This bunch is a perfect example of what to wear to an extended family session- tell everyone to dress in neutrals and encourage different textures. Big difference between wearing khakis and a beige sweater and adding some knits, tutus and all of the other pretty materials there are. I also love how the beautiful matriarch gets to stand out in a gorgeous and rich jewel tone. It is also important for each individual family to photograph well together and of course all of the littles looking good together because they are the true purpose. With an extended family session I always start with photos of the larger group and widdle it down from there, making sure every sub grouping is captured. I encourage my clients to imagine the photos their parents will want in their homes of the entire family and all of the beautiful pieces that make up the larger group. I also loved this location for a large group because there is space, it is a beautiful and simple background and there aren’t places for the kids to run off to (the beach has way more fun things to do than stand and pose for pics). There is so much that can change within a family in a year and snapping the group while all of the cousins are little and the grandparents can cuddle them is a very important and special gift I think every family should do.
